Lace is the thin, mesh-like material used for closures and frontals to create a natural-looking hairline and scalp illusion. But not all lace is the same — and choosing the right type makes all the difference in how your wig blends, lasts and looks in real life. There are two main types: Transparent and HD lace where Transparent lace is durable and more affordable but may need tinting to match deeper skin tones. HD lace is thinner, softer and melts into most skin tones with minimal effort — but it’s more delicate and requires gentle handling. Bleaching the knots give a cleaner, more natural “scalp” look and when they are not bleached well, the lace will never look truly natural.
